Liber Astronomiae This book is one of my favorites the cover wore off on my copy from constant use. I am biased, as a former student of Zoller's. Unabashedly, I'll say that anyone who reads through this magnum opus will gain a practical understanding of Astrology. True Astrology, the ancient art, is not like our simplistic sun-sign approach. It's a science, not a free-association game. If you have only read Linda Goodman's book, "Sun Signs," then Liber Astronomiae will be intimidating. If you have studied Rennaissance, or pre-, with a reputable teacher, this book will become one of your bibles. Bonatti wrote an encyclopedia of the Ancient's tools and opinons. He also, as a practising, predictive Astrologer, tells his readers which tools work and which are shady. He spent his writing time compiling the opinions of those he considered the ancient and wise Astrologers, then compared their opinions with his practical practise. Bonatti, a famous practitioner and adviser, was mentioned in Dante's Inferno and also was instrumental in opposing the Pope. If you are serious about studying medieval Astrology your shelf and mind shouldn't be empty of this work. |
