A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator

by LLewellyn George, first published 1910.

Llewellyn George had a pretty solid and traditional approach, for a 20th century Astrologer. The tone of his writing is clear, concise and modern, which only makes classic techniques more accessible.

Llewellyn begins with the absolute basics and ends in more advanced techniues. His magnum opus starts with the tropical Zodiac and then steps into the explanation of the houses. He then eductates us on the sign's classifications in their diverse ways in the next sections. He unflinchingly explains the nine planets, their natures and classifications. Aspects are then regarded for meaning and he continues on, teaching us clearly every step of the way. You even find a step-by-step description of calculating a horoscope — and how many of us can easily ereect a chart without a computer? He mentions progressions, both Primary and Secondary, and doesn't shy away from prediction. For real beginners, George interprets the planets in houses, the planets in signs, and the nature of rising signs (not sun signs) on an individual.

I have to respect this man for he didn't shy away from study and learning. Nor was he swept up in the modernization of Astrology — he stuck with the Ascendant and not the sun sign as the description of the person

If you want a solid base in Astrology, but are afraid to study the ancient works (now available in a near plethora), get George's book and read it cover to cover . . . a few times. Then, start applying what you have learned . . . on every chart that you can get into your hands.

Remember, you won't learn about almutems or hear the phrase "corporeal conjunction." You'll miss out learn about predicting using triplicity rulers. But, you will be off to a great start in your education. If you have good roots and understanding, you won't be swayed by fad that breezes through the field of Astrology. If you learn Astrology the old fashioned way, you will be able to predict and judge from charts. The book, A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator, is almost a required text in any (English speaking) Astrology student's library.

* My copy is a hardcover, 1972 printing. Earlier editions have additional chapters, tables and appendices that the late 1990's publishing has dropped. So, If you can, find an older copy to borrow or buy!
